Charis Bygrave My Wedding Day is July 2012
About usHi I am Charis and I’m marrying the wonderful Menelik. We’ve been together for just over a year but have known each other for 10 years. I am very excited to be marrying my best friend and soul mate and am enjoying every minute of being engaged, reading wedding magazines and planning our big day. Where & WhenThe big day is happening July 2012. We picked this date as both of my parents work in schools and we wanted a date that was during the summer holidays so my mother could help with the planning and setting up
The wedding will take place in Bushey, Hertfordshire as we both live in Watford. I’ve always wanted a church wedding as I think that they are really beautiful and the old fashioned part of me feels like I’m not married unless it is in the eyes of the Lord. After heated debated with my fiancé he is allowing us to get married in a church. I know the church I want to get married at (saw it on an episode of Eastenders) I just have to contact the vicar and as the church is not in my local parish I must attend it for 6 months.
The Venue has been booked and is taking place in a local country club. The grounds of the club are extremely beautiful and will make a wonderful back drop for our wedding pictures.  The Proposal
First off you need to know I love everything related to pirate (although my Fiancé has banned us from having a pirate themed wedding {boo}) On 31st October 2010 Menelik took me to the Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth. Now I had no idea what he had planned I thought that we were just going there to look at the ships and buy some pirate paraphernalia. We had a really great day and when we got back to the hotel room I went to turn on the TV he stopped me got down on one knee and pulled a ring box out from his back pocket (he had been carrying around all day) and asked me to marry him. I was in shock but it was so romantic. I was totally unaware that 2 weeks earlier he had gone and asked my parents for my hand. I’m marrying a true gentle man. Wedding ThemeSince I’m banned from having a pirate themed wedding my next choice is butterflies and bling. Underneath it all I’m a real girly girl. The colour theme is a deep royal purple as I am finally marrying my prince I wanted to have a slight royal theme. I am having a small children’s table which will have princess and pirate theme, so I may still get my pirate theme in there. BridesmaidsI have got four bridesmaids consisting of 2 of my sisters, my cousin and my best friend. My chief bridesmaid is my other sister. I have not yet got the bridesmaid dresses but I know I want them to be purple with chief bridesmaids dress being slightly different from the rest. I have 5 flower girls who are my four nieces and my Goddaughter. Wedding DressUnlike most brides to be I have not even started wedding dress shopping. I have seen the perfect one that I have fallen in love with and during the summer when I have more time I will start shopping and looking around for dresses What have I done so far?Well I’ve booked my venue and that is about it. I’m a bride on a budget and have a wonderful family so I have a DJ, Cake, Videographer, amateur photographer, and master of ceremony all sorted already either free or at very low cost.
