Did you know?
The reason that the engagement rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand is because the ancient Egyptians thought that the "vein of love' ran from this finger directly to the heart.

Did you know?
When the best man is paying the church fee, he should pay the Minister an odd sum to bring luck to the couple.

Did you know?
The bouquet tossing custom started when the bride used to throw her left shoe over her shoulder to indicate her new status and departure from her old life into the new, the one who caught the shoe would be next to marry! It was replaced by the bouquet to stop the bride from walking barefooted for the rest of the day.

GEMMA GLAZEBROOK

My Wedding Day is on Saturday 29th September 2012

ABOUT ME

My name is Gemma Glazebrook and I am getting married in East Sussex on the 29th September 2012. I have already booked the venue (to which I wish to remain a surprise for my guests) and have pretty much organised the entire wedding within a week of getting engaged!  I have chosen the colour scheme which will be 2 colours with an additional accent colour (again I am keeping tight lipped about this) and have picked one of my good friends to be my photographer, booked a limo and booked the makeup artist and hairdresser for my big day!

MY PROPOSAL

Gemma Glazebrook

My fiancée and I have had a bit of a bad year with lots of bad luck, sadness and mishaps so this proposal has really lifted my spirits and given me something to focus on for the next year (although considering I have pretty much organised it all, I’m not sure what left there is to do!). On the day of the proposal, unbeknown to me, my fiancée had taken the day off work and decorated our entire flat in candles and red rose petals. The flat was in darkness when I pulled into the car park but by the time i had locked my car door and made my way up two flights of stairs and opened the door, the scene was set and he was on one knee in the hallway holding the ring. It took me a second or two to realise he was not a burglar!!! He made a rather romantic speech (Of which I remember only a few lines!) and he cooked me a lovely lamb dinner with wine and desert. it was all simple yet very romantic.

MY WEDDING

We have been very lucky to find a venue who has taken pretty much the entire day off my hands. They organise everything from the tableware, flowers and food to the alcohol, DJ and entertainment. We even have the toastmaster who worked at Camilla and Charles wedding and more recently, Will and Kate's. It has cost us an arm and a leg but we are confident the venue will take care of every little detail to perfection. The only thing I need to do is meet with them a week before the big day and tell them my colour scheme and choose a menu....

So, since booking the venue I have done everything else possible this far in advance. I have chosen one maid of honour, one bridesmaid and one flower girl. I want to keep costs down as much as possible from here on in but still keep the wedding personal and classy. Seeing as I have zero creativity in my bank of numerous talents, I could really do with some ideas on the bridal flowers (especially what is in season at this time of year), pin holes and invites. If you have any ideas, do let me know. I have decided that whilst my colour scheme will be 2 colours, all of the flowers and a certain other small items will be in a different colour to give it a different feel and set it apart from other weddings I have been too. I have created it all in my mind but seeing it come together is what I am really excited about!!!

Next on my list... the dress!!
