This is to be used as a guide only

Just engaged?  Congratulations!!

Provisionally set a date ensuring you check with senior family members that you wish to invite, then tell all your family and friends.  You will need to come to an agreement on the budget.  You can find many ways to make your budget stretch. Provisionally book your venues for the ceremony and venue and contact the registrars to ensure that they are available on your provisionally wedding day. 


Wedding Information > 9 - 12 MONTHS


Wedding Information > 6-9 MONTHS before your wedding day 

  • Announcements could be placed in the local paper
  • Tell your friends and family of your good news
  • Order your table decorations
  • Select your Bridesmaids, Matron of Honour and Best Man
  • Order outfits for the above
  • Have you ordered wedding vehicles and Chauffers?

Wedding Information > 4 - 6 MONTHS before your wedding day 

  • Announcements could be placed in the local paper
  • Finalise your list of guests
  • Decide on a gift list
  • Order rings
  • Order cake
  • Order flowers
  • Order stationery

Wedding Information > 2 MONTHS before your wedding day

Are you having a religious ceremony?  You will need to organise the banns and you need to look at hymns and readings
  • Arrange for the first dress fittin
  • Check passport AGAIN and innoculation
  • Discuss hairstyles with your hairdresser
  • Print your order of service
  • Post your invitations
  • Arrange favours
  • purchase all accessories for your outfits
  • Choose gifts to distribute on the day
  • Confirm all previous bookings
  • Choose a wedding guest book

Wedding Information > 1 MONTH before your wedding day  

  • Get written confirmations on all bookings
  • Book your hairdresser and make-up
  • Pay all invoices and fees
  • Chase guests who haven't RSVP
  • Buy gifts for the bridesmaids
  • Have your final dress fitting
  • Order the currency for your honeymoon
  • Confirm numbers for the caterers

 


Wedding Information > the week before your wedding day

  • Reconfirm ALL bookings and timings
  • Write a wedding day schedule
  • Delegate tasks to those involved
  • Finalise the seating arrangements for the reception 
  • Wear your wedding shoes around the house to break them in
  • Wedding rehearsals 
  • Speeches prepared?
  • Arrange for hired outfits/equipment to be returned on your behalf
  • Give wedding venue seating plan to ushers
  • Outfit Checks
  • Hair Cuts
  • Final Check on transport ~ the wedding party and guests
  • Car Maintenance if using your vehicle
  • Start to pack for the honeymoon!
  • Gift wrap any gifts
  • Pack a bag for your wedding night
  • Pack a suitcase for your honeymoon
  • Send bags to your wedding night destination
  • Give rings to your bestman
  • Give your house sitter contact details and spare keys
  • Get a first aid kit together ... Headache tablets, plasters etc 
  • Go with your partner for a meal... breathe, relax
  • Get some early nights
  • Stay sober
  • Confirm cake delivery

IF GOING ON HONEYMOON ABROAD

  • - Passports
  • - Tickets
  • - Currency
  • - Ensure travel tickets, currency and passports are safe but NOT in your suitcase.

Wedding Information > wedding day 

BRIDE

  • Take 5 minutes to relax with a cuppa with your family
  • Have a breakfast, difficult with nerves....but a must!
  • Phone the florists to confirm flower delivery
  • Hairdresser Appointment 
  • Makeup Appointment
  • Go to the toilet BEFORE putting on that beautiful dress
  • TRY NOT TO CRY! Even if you do look a vision....
  • Best of wishes to you and Congratulations from us

BEST MAN

  • Lots of best wishes from us
  • Ensure you put rings, speech, messages and telegrams in a safe place to take with you

USHER

  • Collect buttonholes
  • Distribute the order of service programmes before the ceremony

GROOM

  • Arrive 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony!
  • Did you send that last minute gift to your wife-to-be?
