Close your eyes and picture it. The room glows with neon pinks and electric blues. Sequins catch the light from every corner, throwing glittery reflections onto the dance floor. Guests are sipping cocktails with sparkly rims while a roulette wheel spins and a drag queen in feathers announces the arrival of the newlyweds.

That’s the beauty of a Vegas-inspired wedding. It’s not just about décor, it’s about big, bold, unapologetic energy. You don’t need to hop on a plane to Nevada to get it; with a little creativity, you can bring all the magic of the Strip to your own celebration.

Here’s how to channel that unforgettable Vegas vibe.

Start with the Stationery: The First Glimpse of Glam

Your invitations set the stage. We’re talking envelopes lined with metallic foil, sparkly paper stock or custom illustrations, invites with bold typography or neon glow and signage that feels more like gig posters than traditional stationery. Guests will know instantly they’re not heading to a stiff, formal affair. They’re about to step into a full-on Vegas party.

When it comes to the ceremony, Vegas weddings are all about the unexpected. Maybe you have Elvis officiating, complete with a gold lamé suit. Or perhaps Dolly Parton impersonator declares you married. This is your chance to bring in humour, camp and showbiz sparkle to your big day. Your ceremony can be low-lit with your names in neon, can have music to set the scene and you can get wed in front of a wedding chapel-style backdrop.

Décor That Dazzles

Forget subtlety. Vegas thrives on drama! Think sequinned tablecloths, mirrored centrepieces, disco balls and neon signs declaring your love in ten-foot letters. The louder the colour, the bigger the sparkle, the more your guests will feel transported straight to the Strip. Poker chips, motel keys, dice and playing cards can all play a part and feed into the Vegas vibe. Be brave and go maximalist with silk draping, fringing, feathers, disco balls and sexy shades of pink and red.

Cocktails, Not Champagne Towers

Swap tradition for fun. A cocktail bar serving “Jackpot Margaritas” or “Strip-tinis” feels right at home. Add glitter-rimmed glasses or oversized garnishes and you’ve got drinks that double as décor. Bonus points if your bartender can juggle bottles à la Vegas showman. Serve easy-to-eat fast food like fries and burgers that feel like you’ve walked straight out the chapel and into the local diner.

What’s a Vegas night without entertainment? Picture showgirls in feather headdresses flanking the dance floor, a magician dazzling guests at dinner and drag queens emceeing the night with sass and sparkle. This is about creating memories that feel larger than life, and electric atmosphere and a hell of a lot of fun.

Play the Tables

Instead of lawn games, imagine casino tables buzzing with laughter. Guests trade tokens (no real money needed!) and win raffle tickets or silly prizes. The thrill of the game keeps the energy high and gives your party that unmistakable casino edge.

Party ‘Til You Drop

Vegas doesn’t sleep and your wedding doesn’t have to either. A glowing dance floor, a DJ who knows how to throw down, maybe even a surprise karaoke booth at midnight. It’s all about keeping the party alive long after the cake has been cut. Check when your venue closes and move the party to a late-night dive bar if the answer is ‘too early’ for dancing ‘til dawn!

A Love Story as Bold as Vegas

A Vegas-inspired wedding isn’t about copying clichés, it’s about owning the stage. It’s sequins instead of satin, neon instead of ivory, drag queens instead of flower girls (or both, if you want!). It’s a theme that welcomes every love story, every couple, every guest who wants to dance the night away under the lights and throw themselves into the celebration of you and your love.

  • Neon Signs: Custom neon signs are easier to rent than buy. Look for local event rental companies or Etsy sellers who do bespoke designs. A simple sentimental phrase or your names in neon instantly sets the scene.

  • DIY Casino Tables: You don’t need a professional casino hire. Rent cheaper card tables, print out fun poker chips and let guests play for tokens or small prizes.

  • Cocktail Styling: Glittered rims can be made with edible glitter. Add quirky straws or oversized cocktail cherries for extra Vegas flair.

  • Affordable Showbiz: Drag performers, magicians and dancers can often be booked locally for short sets, keeping entertainment budget-friendly but high-impact.

  • Dress Code Fun: Encourage sequins, glitter and bold colours for guests. Even simple accessories like feather boas, sparkly bow ties or novelty sunglasses can make everyone feel part of the theme. Perfect for a photo booth, too!

  • Lighting Magic: LED uplighting, string lights and mirrored surfaces make smaller venues feel big and glamorous. Add in some metallic streamers for extra wow.

  • Photo Ops: Create a corner with oversized dice, playing cards and feather fans for guests to take silly, memorable photos.
